Oxford International Education Group has partnered with Birkbeck, University of London on recruitment and enrolment management to allow more international students to enrol at the 200-year-old institution.

The move is part of what OIEG says is its “strategic expansion” into direct entry recruitment and enrolment management partnerships.

The provider, owned by private equity investor THI Investments, recently partnered with the universities of Kent and Edinburgh Napier in the UK, in addition to expansions in Australia, the US (with Mercy College & San Francisco State University), Canada and in pre-sessional programs in China.

Birkbeck’s unique offer includes its focus on interactive learning and group work and location in the heart of London. Data suggests that the university’s graduates’ salaries are among the highest in the UK within six months of graduating, the partners noted.

Director of marketing and external relations at Birkbeck, Lynn Grimes, said the partnership will allow the university to “grow our global footprint and attract more international students”.

“We’re confident we’ll be able to extend our reach so that more international students benefit from our unique offer”

“With OIEG’s support, we’re confident we’ll be able to extend our reach so that more international students benefit from our unique offer,” she said.

OIEG said its “long track record” of successfully building institutions’ reputations overseas, expanding international student programs and developing and delivering broader internationalisation initiatives will aid the partnership.

For Birkbeck – established in 1823 – OIEG will offer recruitment, compliance, conversion, admissions, student support and enrolment services.

OIEG’s chief development officer, David Pilsbury, said the provider is “delighted to have been chosen to support the next stage of Birkbeck’s international journey”.

“[We]look forward to working with staff and students to build an even more exciting and dynamic community,” he said.

“Our global network, combined with Birkbeck’s outstanding academic offering, will enhance opportunities and experiences for all students.”
