Study abroad company Asia Exchange has partnered with AFS Intercultural Programs as the newest addition to AFS’s network of Global Affiliates around the world.

AFS provides intercultural learning opportunities for around 13,000 students and teachers each year through its network of over 60 global partners in more than 80 countries.

This partnership will enable both parties to combine their strengths and work collaboratively to reach their shared mission of shaping a world where international education acts as a catalyst for unity, understanding and peace.

“This partnership is more than an alliance,” Harri Suominen, president and CEO of Asia Exchange, told The PIE News, “it’s a bridge connecting adventurous minds to life-altering educational experiences.”

The partnership aims to expose Asia Exchange study abroad programs to a wider audience.

The exchange organisation believes in the advantages of studying in “untypical and exotic destinations” that challenge young people, said Suominen.

Daniel Obst, president and CEO of AFS, also anticipates enriched offerings for university students and expanded possibilities for students across the globe.

“Fostering intercultural understanding and developing active global citizens is of utmost importance in today’s interconnected world,” Obst told The PIE.

“That is why we are thrilled to partner with Asia Exchange. Together we can expand opportunities for cultural exchange and youth development in more countries around the world.”

The collaboration “is a testament to our relentless pursuit of excellence in international education”, Joonas Salo, Asia Exchange’s CBO, added.

“Together, we hope to contribute to a more interconnected world”

“This partnership sets new benchmarks for providing students with unparalleled access to becoming global citizens.”

Salo highlighted the impact on tomorrow’s global citizens that the partnership aims to foster.

“Together, we hope to contribute to a more interconnected world, where youth of today and the leaders of the future gain intercultural competence and become global citizens,” he added.

Suominen said he can personally attest to study abroad’s transformative power.

“It has shaped who I am today, not only propelling my career forward, but also bringing me the most meaningful aspects of my life, including my family.

“We firmly believe that when more people engage in meaningful travel and study abroad, the world becomes a better place. These interactions foster understanding, respect, and a sense of global community, reducing conflicts and building bridges across cultures.”
