CATS Global Schools has unveiled a new campus in Shanghai as it seeks to meet a demand for high quality, in-country provision in China.

The new Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts campus in the Baoshan District of Shanghai will cater to up to 800 students and offer a pathway to Art & Design, Drama and Music programs.

“We have seen an increasing demand for high quality, in-country provision in China”

“We have seen an increasing demand for high quality, in-country provision in China,” Chris Stacey, CEO of CATS Global Schools said.

“Despite the global pandemic and travel restrictions, students still want to experience an international education. In addition to benefiting from a rich arts-based curriculum, students at CSVPA China focus on developing their critical analytical, enterprise and human skills to prepare for tomorrow’s world.”

The school welcomed its first Chinese and Foreign national students in September.

Grades 10 and 11 students, aged 14-16, follow an English-taught British or American arts-based curriculum on campus for two years, before completing their final high school education at UK or US CATS Global Schools.

“It’s important, now more than ever in the current climate, that students in China have the opportunity to experience an international education, and they can do this in-country at a campus with outstanding facilities and first-class teaching before progressing to a UK/US school to complete their high school education,” Stacey added.

Along with the Perfume DIY club, extracurricular activities include K-Pop Dance, Design, Table Tennis, Bioengineering and Computer Science.

The new 19,000 square metre campus replaces the previous smaller school that was based in the Minhang area of Shanghai. The new school joins CATS’s other campus in the Pudong District of Shanghai, where students follow an academic curriculum, as opposed to an arts-based curriculum.

With 16 institutions comprising independent boarding schools, the arts school, English language schools and a variety of summer programs in the UK, US, Canada and China, CATS provides education and training to some 18,000 students annually.
