The UK’s Bristol International College has partnered with Chinese education group Zhejiang Unieducation Education Technology to offer online international foundation programs in Zhejiang Province, China.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the college – scheduled to accept its first in-person student cohort in September 2020 – postponed the physical opening until August 2021, and will instead offer its International Foundation Program online starting in August this year.

“We’ve identified huge potential in the Chinese market”

“We’ve identified huge potential in the Chinese market and a genuine desire among Chinese students to study at university in the UK and we are here with an online version of the highly regarded IFP to help them make that a reality,” John Milne, CEO and co-founder of BIC said in a statement.

“We are very happy and honoured to partner with Bristol International College and to enable students in Zhejiang province to study for the prestigious University of London International Foundation Certificate,” CEO of Unieducation, Yuanyuan Wu added.

“We also hope to send students to study at Bristol International College in Bristol as soon as it is safe to do so.”

BIC made the decision to postpone the physical opening of its University of London Recognised Teaching Centre in April.

Students will be able to complete the high school level pre-university pathway online over a period of eight months, beginning in August.

Since being founded in 2011, Unieducation has provided professional services to some 7,000 Chinese students and teachers and has established more than 30 sister school agreements with UK institutions.

“We are over the moon to be launching these projects, especially in the current climate, and we couldn’t wish for a better partner in Unieducation,” BIC’s director of sales & marketing, Tony Evans added.

“We hope that this will be the first of many such initiatives”.
