Allianz Global Assistance has launched a health and wellbeing program to support international students in Australia who have been in isolation away from their home country during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The one-month, online wellness program is offered free of charge for Allianz Global Assistance international students and visitors, includes live, instructor-led, health and fitness, yoga and mindfulness classes conducted via video conference.

“International students and visitors are navigating this pandemic away from their loved ones in a foreign country”

While new international arrivals have been largely halted during the pandemic, many have experienced heightened anxiety due to Covid-19 physical distancing measures directly impacting their work, study and social interactions, noted Allianz in a statement.

“International students and visitors are navigating this pandemic away from their loved ones in a foreign country, which can contribute to a lot of stress and anxiety, so we’ve created a program focused on connectedness and mental resilience to help improve their wellbeing,” said Allianz Partners CEO, Matthew Clayton.

“We know prevention is better than the cure, which is why we always take a holistic approach to health and wellbeing to ensure our international students and visitors are receiving the comprehensive support they need.”

The new health and wellness program is complemented by a Safety Services package, powered by Sonder.

It’s a 24/7 app connecting students in need of advice or assistance with trusted local professionals and multilingual specialists, providing users with advice on security, safety and welfare issues and offering support if in an immediate crisis.

“As we continue to navigate the Covid-19 pandemic, our university and agent partners are a vital support network for international students and visitors, and we will continue to share helpful resources,” Clayton said.
