Germany: FDSV adds German language schools

Germany’s association of language tour operators FDSV has admitted three more German-language schools as its membership further widens for educators within the country.

After opening membership up to German language educators in 2018, FDSV has said demand for its school quality certification remains high. 14 schools have already been certified by the organisation.

“A big topic in the inbound area is the tax adjustment to EU law”

The three new school members include Humboldt-Institut with locations across the country, the language school KAPITO in Münster and the EURASIA Institute in Berlin.

According to Julia Richter, the association’s managing director, with the additional members, the group now covers a very wide range of programs in Germany and abroad for German and international students.

“Germany is a popular and safe travel destination for the following reasons: various cultural offers, trendy cities like Berlin or Munich, year-round travel deals also in winter like skiing,” Richter told The PIE News.

Free German language programs at renowned universities, coupled with affordable living costs, are also a draw for prospective students, Richter added.

“Another big topic in the inbound area is the tax adjustment to EU law. For example, it is currently being discussed whether language courses in the EU will remain tax-exempt in the future or not,” Richter explained.

With the organisation’s membership growth, the more traction FDSV will have.

“The bigger the association grows, the more influential we become and the more interesting we are for new members,” Richter explained.

“The FDSV also enables its members to network. For this purpose, the members’ meetings are useful, where agencies and schools can exchange ideas.”

“There are many language schools in Germany. An “umbrella organization” did not exist until last year. With the large offer, it is important to focus on the quality of the courses.”

Additionally, Peter Schuto of ruf Jugendreisen was confirmed at FDSV’s first chairman, while Sprachcaffe’s Alberto Sarno became deputy at the annual general meeting earlier this month at the Canadian Embassy in Berlin.
