Thushyanthi Sha, UoP London Pathway College

Describe yourself in three words or sentences.

International recruitment manager at UoP London Pathway College. Collaborative team player who thrives in a dynamic, goal-driven environment. Avid reader who values continuous learning and personal growth.

What do you like most about your job?

Connecting with people from different cultures and helping students take that first step toward their future is incredibly rewarding.

Equally fulfilling is working with a passionate, supportive team at UoP London Pathway College. The collaborative environment and the trust I’m given to explore new ideas and markets make every day exciting.

What brings me the most joy is hearing from students I supported years ago – many still reach out to share their achievements and express gratitude. Seeing the pride in a parent’s eyes when their child succeeds is one of the most rewarding parts of this work.

Best work trip/worst work trip?

Best: Azerbaijan – the people are incredibly warm, the hospitality is unmatched, and the mix of ancient charm and modern vibrancy makes it a pleasure to visit. Student and partner engagement there is always high and energising.

Worst: I won’t name the destination out of respect for the amazing people I work with there, but immigration was a serious challenge. Bribes were subtly expected, which created unnecessary stress. Thankfully, the kindness and professionalism of local colleagues made up for it.

If you could learn a language instantly, which would you pick and why?

Arabic. It’s spoken across many of our key markets, and being able to connect more personally with students, parents, and partners would be incredibly valuable. It’s also a beautiful language with deep cultural significance.

What makes you get up in the morning?

Knowing that I’m helping shape futures by supporting students and driving institutional growth. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to make a difference.

Our students at UoP London Pathway College bring so much energy and enthusiasm, which is truly inspiring and reminds me of the positive impact education has on their lives.

Personally, my beautiful family is a huge source of motivation. Their support keeps me grounded and inspires me to give my best each day.

Champion/cheerleader we should all follow and why?

Malala Yousafzai. Her unwavering belief in the power of education and her ability to spark global dialogue about access and equality continue to inspire our sector.

Best international ed conference and why?

ICEF Berlin. It brings together a diverse and high-calibre group of professionals, fosters strategic dialogue, and sparks partnerships that drive real progress in international education.

Book or podcast recommendation for others in the sector?

Book: The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks. While not directly industry-focused, it’s a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy and nurturing long-term relationships – values that are central to our work with students and partners.
