Arizona State University launches ASU London

ASU London is a new UK-accredited higher education institution created by Arizona State University, set to bring ASU’s teaching and learning to the UK.

Building on the success of The Engineering & Design Institute London (TEDI-London), which was co-created by Arizona State University in 2020, ASU London incorporates TEDI-London’s innovative, project-based programs in engineering alongside new degree offerings in business management, computer science and electrical and electronic engineering.

TEDI-London will become part of ASU London and will continue to offer its three degrees: engineering with AI, engineering with mechatronics systems, and global design engineering, as the combined institution prepares to move to a dedicated space on City, University of London’s Clerkenwell campus in autumn 2026.

ASU London will offer students the opportunity to gain two international degrees and to graduate and work in the US. For US students, ASU London offers the opportunity to travel and learn abroad in London.

All UK programs include pathways to Arizona State University, with initial offerings combining a three-year UK bachelor’s degree with an optional one-year accelerated master’s at Arizona State University in the US. The model enables students to complete two internationally recognised degrees in four years and gain experience across two major higher education systems.

ASU London helps students to become master problem solvers who can succeed in the evolving global economy

“ASU London helps students to become master problem solvers who can succeed in the evolving global economy,” said ASU president Michael M. Crow.

For Crow, the new institution “combines the appeal of British higher education and American innovation in applied learning, all from one of the world’s great cities”.

“These are complex, demanding times for students, and we have designed ASU London to provide them with a compelling new way they can gain both an international experience and prepare for their careers, in the UK and the US,” he said.

ASU London’s programs are shaped in collaboration with leading academics from the US and the UK and with industry experts to provide practical, real-world learning, the institution said in a statement. Arizona State University faculty will participate in the teaching of specific ASU London courses, in person and online.

Arizona State University is known for its ‘New American University’ model, which emphasises inclusion, student success and research with public value, alongside a commitment to supporting the economic and social well-being of its surrounding communities.

The university has been ranked first in the US for innovation for 11 consecutive years by US News & World Report, and its work in sustainability and global engagement is regularly highlighted in international rankings.

ASU’s approach has been shaped under the long tenure of Crow, who led the development of the New American University framework to combine broad educational access with academic excellence and societal impact.

Speaking to The PIE News‘s CEO Amy Baker earlier this year at the ASU+GSV & Emeritus Summit in India, Crow reinforced his vision for expanding education beyond traditional models that he believes have historically stifled talent.

“This is not a traditional university education,” commented Malcolm Grant, chair of the board of trustee directors of ASU London.

“ASU London allows students to learn as professionals in training – working on real projects, developing technical, professional and leadership skills sought by employers worldwide,” he explained.

Students at ASU London will also have the opportunity to tap into the ASU global network of over 1 million alumni and employer connections across the world.
