Ankur Vohra, Masters’ Union

Describe yourself in three words or phrases.

Disruptive, passionate, committed to my ideas.

What do you like most about your job?

Just the impact that we have on students’ lives – I think that’s the most important thing. We’re able to attract students and impact their lives in a positive way. I think that’s what keeps me going.

What’s a piece of work you’re proud of – and what did it teach you?

I’m proud of Masters’ Union and our Intersect conference. We’re working to bridge the industry-academy gap. We started with just 50 people, and now we have 150 delegates from 16 countries. I think that’s what I’m proud of.

What’s a small daily habit that helps you in your work?

Spirituality. I’m a very spiritual person, I’m into mindfulness, and that’s what keeps me around here.

What’s one change you’d like to see in your sector over the next few years?

More hands-on learning! That’s it, that’s the future.

What idea, book, podcast or conversation has stayed with you recently?

Amusing Ourselves to Death is a 1985 book by Neil Postman. Everyone should read that book.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone starting out in this field?

Be disruptive, not traditional. That’s what needs to be done. Traditional approaches are already outdated.
