UK gains latest ELT group with launch of ILC

English language schools across six locations in England have come together to form ILC International Language Centres.

The group’s acquisition of TEG English in 2020 and ABC Languages in 2021 makes the collective “one of the largest groups of language schools for adults and young learners”.

With schools in Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Colchester, Portsmouth and Southampton, ILC says students have a choice between big cities, student-friendly cities and charming historical towns.

“ILC has a location to suit everyone’s preferred English-language learning environment,” David Tompkins, ILC west regional director, said in a statement.

Bringing the schools under one umbrella organisation means the provider benefits from wider recognition, a greater range of locations to offer customers, efficiencies and the ability to spread best practice.

“ILC’s management and staff have a great deal of experience in customer service and organising successful courses, accommodation and leisure programs,” Tompkins added.

“We have great residential and non-residential summer schools”

“We have great residential and non-residential summer schools, flexible year-round young learner mini-break programs and a strong General English and academic pathway program.”

The UK is “back to normal” following the pandemic, the company stated, and it is preparing to welcome English language learners back, with Europe, Middle East and Asia key source markets for students.

“The schools were previously small-scale, boutique style schools,” a spokesperson told The PIE. “That feeling has been retained, it’s just that now we are part of a group.”
