ApplyBoard has partnered with five Irish universities as the global edtech and recruitment platform launches the country as its latest study abroad destination.

Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin, Maynooth University, University College Cork and the University of Limerick have all partnered with the company to “build more momentum” within the country’s international education sector.

“Ireland is becoming an increasingly popular study destination for international students as the world class standard of our education is matched by the post study work opportunities available,” said Giles O’Neill, head of Education in Ireland.

All nine of Ireland’s universities rank in the top three percent worldwide, and many of those universities’ research fields rank even higher – coupled with the post study pathways for international students scheme, it is clear ApplyBoard has big plans for the country’s higher ed sector.

“Ireland has so much to offer international students,” said CEO and co-founder of ApplyBoard Martin Basiri.

“Building this strong relationship with Ireland signifies and important step in expanding new opportunities for future students, supporting the long-standing legacy for excellence in Irish education sector, and continuing to break down barriers to education for countless students around the world,” he explained.

Ireland has seen international student numbers triple over the last decade, from 9,653 in 2010 to over 25,000 in 2021, according to the Higher Education Authority.

University College Dublin, one of the new partners of ApplyBoard in Ireland, expressed optimism at the new agreement, which would give the country and the company what they need to keep competitive in the market.

“ApplyBoard is incredibly well placed to partner with UCD to promote Ireland, to connect with international students who are looking for an education experience that sets them apart and provides them with a competitive advantage,” said international student recruitment director Una Watkins.

Watkins echoed the sentiment of O’Neill, who also said that ApplyBoard “puts the student at the heart of what they do and keeps them there”.

“This is a mission we share and something that I am sure we can build on together into the future,” O’Neill added.

It comes after Applyboard came back to host its top recruiters workshop event in Delhi on June 14 and 15, following two years out due to the pandemic. More than 1,000 study abroad professionals with representatives from Canada, the US and the UK joined to share “key trends and international recruitment insights”.
