Bayswater acquires centres in Canada and UK

UK-headquartered Bayswater Education will enter Canada with the acquisition of two schools in Toronto and Calgary, in addition to a new centre in Brighton in the UK.

It has reached an agreement to acquire Stafford House centres from CATS Global Schools in the three locations.

CATS Global Schools’ English language provision will now focus on Stafford House centres in Cambridge, Canterbury and London in the UK, in addition to its junior summer programs operation, Stafford House Study Holidays.

“We have made the strategic decision to concentrate our English language offering, provided by Stafford House, on the centres which are co-located with schools in our international high school division and Stafford House Study Holidays,” Chris Stacey, CEO of CATS Global Schools, said.

Founder and managing director of Bayswater Education Stephan Roussounis established the Stafford House schools while he was MD of Stafford House between 2010 and 2017.

“I established these three schools for Stafford House when I worked there, and know the teams and facilities are excellent,” he said. “We are delighted to welcome them to the Bayswater – Eurocentres family.”

The deal marks the return of Eurocentres – which Bayswater acquired in 2020 – to Canada, after a partnership with Oxford International ended in 2020.

“A return to Canada for Eurocentres was a logical choice, being one of the most attractive destinations for international students,” Roussounis added.

“In Brighton, we have been partnering with Stafford House for a number of months. Combining Stafford House with Eurocentres in Brighton brings only positive benefits.”

Bayswater Education has now expanded to 10 centres across the UK, Canada, France, South Africa and Cyprus. It also acquired junior summer program provider Language Study Centres in 2020.

“I’m excited about this new chapter for Stafford House”

“I’m excited about this new chapter for Stafford House and the direction we are taking the division with a renewed focus on our UK centres,” Stacey added.

“This decision allows us to provide a greater variety of programmes to prepare our English language learners for success and consolidate investment for the long term.”

CGS will continue to operate a global network of schools in the UK, US and China.

“CATS Global Schools remains committed to educational excellence, preparing students for their futures through our unique portfolio of 13 institutions including independent boarding schools, international high schools, an arts school, and year-round/summer English language schools.”
