Trinity SELT candidates “put at ease” with Covid-19 measures

Trinity College London looks to provide a safe and supportive setting as centre staff assist to “do everything they can” to put candidates at ease.

Staff at all our test points have been issued with PPE and received training, Trinity SELT test points have been reconfigured to allow for social distancing, and clear guidance implemented across all locations.

Stewards are on hand to accompany candidates around the test point ready for their one-to-one speaking and listening tests, held via video conference with Trinity examiners online.

Additional cleaning of the site is undertaken –lockers and the exam rooms being sanitised as candidates arrive and leave the test point. Hand gel will also be placed at convenient locations throughout the test point.

There is no change to the exam length or content, and each test is still personalised to the individual candidate.

“We always aim to strike a balance between delivering excellent customer service and meeting thorough safety and security standards,” Ailsa Longmuir, Trinity SELT Centre Manager – Edinburgh and Glasgow said.

“In these challenging times we have been working hard to ensure that all government guidelines are met to ensure a safe working environment for our teams, and a safe and supportive setting for our candidates taking their test.”

Candidates can “still expect the same high levels of customer service we are known for”, she added, with stewards offering a friendly greeting as well as ensuring that additional cleaning and disinfecting measures providing confidence to test-takers.

“Our stewards understand that some candidates may be feeling anxious – perhaps this is the first time they have used public transport or been on a busy street in several months – and will do everything they can do to put them at ease,” Longmuir continued.

As Trinity staff wear PPE, customers are also required to wear face masks. Disposable face masks are available if required, the company added.

“We have received great feedback so far from our candidates, and several have made contact through social media to thank us for making them feel safe and welcomed.

“Trinity are proud to continue to support our candidates in these unprecedented times and carry on our standard of customer excellence.”
