The University of Law one of the UK’s longest-established specialist providers of legal education, has officially welcomed its first intake of students at its new Hong Kong campus. The cohort is beginning part-time and full-time GDL courses.

Adding to its eight campuses in the UK, ULaw’s Hong Kong campus marks the University’s first international opening and will be led by inaugural dean, Peter Crisp, who is also the University’s pro vice-chancellor (external).

“We have impressive employability statistics [and we] absolutely intend to maintain this high standard in Hong Kong”

With its wide portfolio of professional law degrees, specialist legal training and ongoing professional development courses for barristers and solicitors, ULaw has ambitious goals of raising the bar in Hong Kong’s provision of quality education.

One of the primary aims of launching the Hong Kong campus was to create new opportunities for the city’s aspiring legal professionals to attain their career goals.

Aruna Verma, program director at ULaw’s Hong Kong campus, said: “We are welcoming our very first cohort and I am excited and proud to be a part of the University’s first international grand opening.

“Teaching quality is at the heart of ULaw and we have applied our rich history and high-quality teaching standards to everything we have done at the Hong Kong campus.

“We are committed to continuing to focus on employability and strengthening our students’ capabilities so that we can provide excellent entry routes into successful careers,” said Verma.

Andrea Nollent, vice-chancellor and CEO at The University of Law, added: “We have impressive employability statistics here at ULaw, with 97 % of LPC students securing employment, training contracts, or further study within nine months of completing their course.

“We absolutely intend to maintain this high standard in Hong Kong,” she added.
