UK educators triumph at EuroAsia Awards

UK education institutions won in four out of 13 categories at the 2019 EuroAsia Awards held in Istanbul, Turkey, after organisers said the UK’s new post-study work policy would make the country “more popular than ever” with international students.
The awards saw 75 educators from 40 countries compete in 13 categories, and was held as part of the 5th EuroAsia Agent Workshop, a conference organised by the International Education Fairs of Turkey, in collaboration with its main sponsor, YEDAB.
“Students are paying more attention to the UK”
300 EuroAsia agents voted for their ‘preferred’ educators, taking into account agent friendliness, ease of admission process, how informative educators are and if they have a well-designed website that helps consultants get more leads.
“Our focus is on countries in Eurasia, for example, Eastern Europe, Russia, and the Middle East. It seems to be that the interest in the UK has increased in these areas,” IEFT managing director Deniz Akar told The PIE News.
“Students are paying more attention to the UK for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. That’s why when the agents chose their most preferred schools, we had around four from the UK.”
UK education institutions Mill Hill School, St Giles International, Embassy Summer and De Montfort University, all received awards.
The success could be explained by the UK’s new PSW regulations, as Akar previously told The PIE.
“[The changes] mean that international students will choose the UK to start their educational journeys or prepare for university study, in the knowledge that they can get a valuable two extra years of experience and using their skills in the workplace.
“In our events at IEFT and EuroAsia, we believe that the UK will be more popular than ever as the top study destination and the new regulations will increase the number of students going to the UK,” he said.
According to Akar, Turkish students, in particular, are looking to the UK for their education.
IEFT statistics showed that 30% of visitors to the organisation’s website indicated that their top choice of study destination as the UK.
Eurasia is an important region for the international education sector with 1.5 million students enrolling in Eurasian countries every year. The EuroAsia Agent Workshop covers a large area responsible for 20% of the global education demand.
The event was attended by around 300 guests from a diverse group of educational professionals from around the world.
Other notable successes include Navitas Group, who won in the ‘most preferred university foundation program provider’ category, while Marmara University was the ‘most preferred state university in Turkey’ category.
