Oxford Int’l launches ‘Core Scholarship’

Oxford International Education Group has announced the launch of a new scholarship scheme for students enrolled in its boarding schools and international colleges in a bid to widen access to international education.

Named Core Scholarship, the initiative will see over £1m made available to support students and it will add to the existing scholarships that the organisation has been awarding to domestic and international students in its Sixth Form and international colleges.

“The landscape for education is changing in the UK and we want to make sure that students are not affected”

The newly launched scheme, the organisation explained in a statement, is testament to a drive to provide more students with the possibility to access an international education experience – especially “in light of the challenges posed by a post-Brexit UK.”

“The landscape for education is changing in the UK and we want to make sure that students are not affected,” the group commercial director Lil Bremmerman-Richard said in a statement.

“We need to ensure that we are still able to give the best talent worldwide the opportunity to access quality education in the UK. We need to invest in our students and this is what will help us continue to succeed as an organisation.”

Bremmerman-Richard added that scholarship schemes are a growing trend in the industry in a bid to democratise access to international education.

“Scholarships are a growing trend – it is about attracting more talented, bright students that would otherwise not consider access to international education,” she told The PIE News.

“Our University Partners also are developing attractive scholarship funds to ensure that not only our progressing students can continue to benefit affordable high quality UK Education but our partners can reach other talented students for direct entry.”

A scholarship scheme can also be a decisive factor for students who are still undecided on their destination, as a former Oxford International student said.

“Choosing to study abroad can be a difficult decision to make – not only because of how expensive it is, but because there are so many options now in the UK, Canada and Australia,” Komal Seth, from India, said in a statement.

“I was so excited when I received a scholarship that it really helped me to be confident in choosing the UK.”
