DMU opens Lisbon office with Oxford International
De Montfort University based in Leicester, UK, has launched a new office in Portugal to increase EU student recruitment.
The new recruiting venture, a result of a partnership between DMU and Oxford International Education Group, has opened its doors in Lisbon, Portugal, on Saturday 23 June.
“This is a trailblazing initiative and will become the model that most of the sector adopts”
“This ground-breaking new partnership builds on the highly successful Pathway College collaboration between Oxford International and De Montfort University and underlines the commitment that both our organisations have to embracing a united Europe,” Oxford International’s co-founder and president David Brown explained.
The move will contribute to the success of the university’s Global Instinct international strategy, and fall in line with its commitment to increase the number of European undergraduate and postgraduate students.
It reaffirms the university’s unshakeable commitment to its European connections by seeking to increase the numbers of European undergraduate and postgraduate students it welcomes onto its programs of study.
James Gardner, DMU’s pro vice-chancellor for strategic and international partnerships, said the university’s new recruitment strategy will show other institutions the way.
“This is the only example of any British university working with a third party to recruit students from Europe in this way,” he said in a statement.
“We believe this is a trailblazing initiative and will become the model that most of the sector adopts.”
DMU saw a 44% increase in enrolments from EU countries at the start of the 2017/18 academic year. Gardner added that the institution is investing in Europe and bolstering its presence on the continent.
The long collaboration between DMU and Oxford International includes the creation of the Leicester International Pathway College in 2013, which offers integrated programs for international students.
The new Lisbon Office was opened with a ceremony led by Gardner and Brown and attended by one of DMU’s largest agents, Information Planet.
