Cohort Go continues expansion period

Australian-based edtech company Cohort Go has announced it is increasing its reach in Latin America and the US and setting up new operations in South Korea and Nepal.

“The US is really the next step for us”

The moves, which join an expansion to its Brisbane headquarters, see the education agent and payment solutions company more than double in size over the past two years.

“We’re committed to constantly building our platform to accommodate the diverse and evolving needs of the international education community,” Cohort Go co-founder and chief executive Mark Fletcher said.

“Our technology teams have been focused on applying machine learning to invoicing and payments; allowing education providers and agents to automate traditionally manual processes, such as verification of payments to trusted payees.”

Speaking with The PIE News, Fletcher said the expansions sought to meet the needs of international students and provider client bases as well as strategically push into future markets.

“Latin America has seen increased business, especially through payment options,” he said.

“It’s an interesting market that has a lot of challenges when it comes to not only getting money in an efficient and effective way. Some institutions, for example, want to be paid their tuition in full, some want their tuition net of commission.”

The US, meanwhile, was a long-term play for Cohort Go, he added.

“The US is really the next step for us. It’s a less concentrated market than what Australia is, but similarly, it’s a big market so we need to be targetting it.”

Moving into a new headquarters, Fletcher said he anticipated further hires to help the company reach more clients.

The announcement concludes a busy 2018 for the company after it signed a deal with IDP to roll out its services to the agency’s client base.
