Camplus awarded best student residence in Italy

Italian student residence provider Camplus received a Ministry of Education award for best student residence in the country.

Created in memory of professor Romano del Nord, chair of the ministry’s commission for student housing for many years, the prize was specifically awarded for the residence Camplus built in Palermo using dedicated public funds.

The provider was up against another five shortlisted residences, but was selected in light of its role as urban regenerator in the city of Palermo, the provider explained in a statement.

The winner was announced in May, but a formal award ceremony took place at the beginning of September at Camplus Palermo.

Among the attendees were Palermo mayor Leoluca Orlando, University of Palermo rector Fabrizio Micari, president of MoE research commission for student housing Nicola Sartor and Luisa De Paola, from the MoE’s department for internationalisation and development.

“We are proud of having received such a prestigious award,” Camplus CEO and founder Maurizio Carvelli said in a statement.

“It’s a testament to our 30-year commitment to supporting Italian and international university students.”

Carvelli explained that all residences have a strong international character.

All residences offer dedicated activities for international students to help them succeed in Italian universities, while helping Italian students access international opportunities.

“We support Camplus students with internationalisation activities to encourage them to pursue study and work abroad,” Carvelli said.

The provider offers residences in 15 Italian cities, but it recently opened a branch in Pamplona, Spain.
