Inspired acquires Cambridge College Lima

London- and Johannesburg-based international schools group Inspired has acquired Cambridge College Lima in Peru, expanding its presence in Latin America.

Founded in 1984 by Donald Jones, the British-Peruvian school teaches some 1,000 expatriate and local students from K-12 level.

“We believe this represents an exciting development for both Inspired and Cambridge”

The acquisition takes Inspired’s network to 27 schools teaching 16,000 students across Europe, Australia, Africa and Latin America.

“We look forward to welcoming the students, parents and staff of Cambridge into our family of schools,” commented Nadim Nsouli, Inspired’s founder and chairman.

“We believe this represents an exciting development for both Inspired and Cambridge and look forward to working with [founder] Mr Jones to build upon the schools’ impressive history of providing families in Lima with world class international education.”

The group’s continued expansion is backed by Educas, a private equity firm also founded by Nsouli.

Last year, the group’s focus was on expanding its European presence, acquiring schools in Belgium and Italy in August, but the group also has ambitions to strengthen its Latin American foothold.

As well as the Cambridge College acquisition, the group is set to open a school in Medellin, Colombia, next year.
