OIEG to open fourth pathway, in Scotland

Oxford International Education Group has partnered with the University of Dundee in Scotland on a pathway programme that aims to boost the number of international undergraduates at the university.

International College Dundee will offer a one-year, on campus programme preparing international students to study at the university, before progressing into the second year of a four-year bachelor’s degree.

“Like many of our fellow universities in the UK, it is imperative that we operate on the global stage”

ICD will be a “major factor” in enabling the university to attain its goals of widening access to a broad array of students and “significantly increase” international student numbers, according to its academic director, Dyce Davidson.

“Like many of our fellow universities in the UK, it is imperative that we operate on the global stage,” Davidson commented.

“In response to this, we have an ever-increasing focus on raising the university’s international profile and bringing more students to Dundee.”

There will be around 50 international students in ICD’s first cohort, who will begin their studies in autumn 2017, with numbers increasing in subsequent intakes.

International College Dundee is OIEG’s fourth pathway venture, all in the UK, following the signing of a 10-year partnership agreement with Bangor University in Wales earlier this year.

David Brown, founder and group chief executive of Oxford International, said the announcement marks a “powerful partnership that will bring international students tremendous opportunities to study at a high quality Scottish university”,

“Our early engagement in establishing International College Dundee has demonstrated that the leadership of the university is enlightened, progressive and ambitious with a comprehensive plan to deliver high levels of student satisfaction and academic quality,” Brown added.

As well as its pathway programmes, OIEG also offers study tours, secondary and sixth form provision in the UK, international EFL study trips in the UK and Europe and language teaching in the UK, Canada and the US (with its North American centres operating under the Eurocentres brand).
